CARING FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

October 2013 - The Norwegian Maritime Foundation Philippines, Inc. and WWF-Philippines implemented the Phase II of Environmental Life Skills Seminar for 704 NSA Cadets from 4 affiliate maritime schools in Cebu, Bacolod, Iloilo and Davao.

The seminar generally aims to enhance the development of the knowledge, attitudes, values, and skills of the participants to be able to actively address environmental issues.

It also aims to impart environmental values and knowledge to individuals to become more aware of the various threats and issues, to learn and appreciate the interdependence between man and nature and to imbibe the importance of being responsible stewards over our resources.

The 6-hour module includes pre-test, lessons on natural and man-made disasters, video showing, lesson on human survival, outdoor ethics, climate proofing and lesson review.

With the current situations in the Philippines, several calamities terribly hit the Visayas region; the environmental life skills seminar  and its importance is very timely  and accurately imparted to the students.

The students in general had fun, valuable learning opportunity and a timely environmental life skills seminar.
