The construction of a new world-class  passenger terminal  is a  Build -Operate-Transfer  structure which  started with the soft redevelopment of terminal 1 as to not turn the airport into a construction site. To date GMR has started  construction of terminal 2 which will be completed in 3 years time. Terminal 2 is purely an international airport. Today the capacity of MCIA is 4.5 million, at the end of the airport project it will be 12.5 million passengers.  In 4 years time, Mactan Cebu International airport is transformed into an award winning airport.
