TESDA RUNS PILOT CLASS and ASSESSMENT FOR SHIP's CATERING SERVICES NC III


Technical Education and Skills Development Authority ( TESDA ) run Ship's Catering NC III Pilot Class in Marlow Navigation on August 8 -15  and Assessment at the Norwegian Training Center - Manila on August 16. 

The pilot class was facilitated by NTC-M's Head of Culinary, Mr. Naham Pelisigas. It was participated by 10 trainees endorsed by the Technical Working Group (TWG) 2 trainees from NTC-M,   4 from Marlow Navigation, 1 from PAMTCI, 1 from MAAP, 1 from FAME and 1 from Joint Manning Group (JMG) 

The pilot class and assessment is in preparation for the roll out of the new training regulations of MLC 2006 section 3.2 of the approved ILO Guidelines for the training of Ship's Cook.

Two core competencies were added from the existing Ship's Catering NC II ; (1 ) manage galley operations including both the procurement of supplies  and practical food production and (2) serve proper quantities of quality, nutritious food that takes into account seafarers' various religious and cultural backgrounds and fulfill hygiene requirements.
